Speckles Hide & See eye patches are designed for children using patches as part of an occlusion therapy routine for amblyopia, which Speckles calls Curious Eye. Each patch is single use, made from soft non-woven cotton with a latex-free, medical-grade adhesive that is hypoallergenic and breathable, sized 75 x 54 millimetres to fit most children. The patch applies to the skin over the eye, so glasses can be worn over the top.

How to wear and care

Apply to clean, dry skin over the eye. Smooth the edges down so nothing catches.

Glasses go over the top. The patch sits on the skin, not on the lens.

Remove gently. Each patch is single use, for good skin hygiene.

Follow the directions in every pack and the routine your eye care professional has set.

Why we say Curious Eye

Amblyopia is sometimes called lazy eye. At Speckles we use the term Curious Eye instead, because lazy implies fault, and the child hears that.

Curious implies wonder. An eye that is still developing is still learning. Same clinical picture, a completely different thing to be told about yourself when you are five.

Never run out

Patches are a daily routine and a pack does not last forever. Set up a repeat delivery and change, skip, pause or cancel anytime from your account.

Questions parents ask

Will it irritate sensitive skin?

The adhesive is latex-free and medical grade, and the patch is hypoallergenic and breathable. If your child has a known skin sensitivity, check with your eye care professional first.

Can my child wear glasses with the patch?

Yes. The patch sits on the skin over the eye, and glasses go over the top.

Are they single use?

Yes. Each patch is single use, for good skin hygiene.

Which pack size should I choose?

At one patch a day, a 30 pack lasts about four weeks and a 50 pack about seven. Each product page shows the cost per patch so you can compare.

Why is a Disney or Marvel pack not available to me?

Disney and Marvel licensed packs are available in Australia and New Zealand only. The Disney and Pixar ELIO 30-pack is also available in the US and Canada.

Can my child wear a patch while swimming?

No. Our patches are designed to be applied to clean, dry skin for the best seal, so they are not designed for swimming or water play. If a patch is being used to protect the eye after surgery, trauma or infection, water adds further risk on top of that. And if a patch is covering the eye with clearer vision, your child is relying on their less clear eye to see in the water, which is not a safe way to swim. Talk to your eye care professional about the right routine around water activities.
