At Speckles, we believe that every child's vision journey should be filled with fun, support, and quality care. Founded by an orthoptist, Speckles transforms children's eye care from a clinical experience into an engaging adventure.
Our collaboration with Disney brings beloved characters to life on our eye patches, making them a exciting part of treating amblyopia, or "Curious Eye" as we prefer to call it. Join us in our mission to provide early detection and effective treatment for children's vision health.
Patching, also known as occlusion therapy, is a common treatment method for the vision condition, Amblyopia. You may have heard of this being called 'Lazy eye', BUT here at Speckles we prefer the more encouraging term 'curious eye'.
With Amblyopia, vision loss occurs because one eye has clearer vision than the other and the brain begins to favour it, ignoring images from the ‘curious eye’. Due to this, the visual pathway between the ‘curious eye’ and the brain is unable to develop a strong and reliable connection, leading to underdevelopment.
Doctors prescribe wearing an eye patch or using eye drops to penalise the eye with clearer vision and give the 'curious eye' a competitive advantage. This allows its nerve connections to strengthen and develop, preventing vision loss. Watch the video for Maddy’s simple explainer on Amblyopia and some of its common causes or visit our eyeHUB to learn all things eye.
We struggled to get our son to wear eye patches but now he can choose the design and he loves using the poster to collect the patches and see how many days he has worn them for.
These patches are such good quality, comfortable, good size and so much easier to keep on than the average chemist ones. The colours and patterns make it so much more appealing for kids and the reward chart is a great touch. Thanks for a great product! 100% recommend.
HIDE&SEE Eye Patches - Fantasy Pack
Amazing designs my daughter loved them.
Great new reward poster design, my son loves to see it filling up as he gets his patch time done & links the picture to animals he sees at the zoo
They look better than a plain coloured one
Great patterns, my daughter enjoyed picking her own patch and it made it easier for her to keep on!
Product arrived so quickly.
My Lil Grandson, loves these, he puts them on everyday without any trouble, he has to wear them everyday for a whole year to correct his sight, and he's happy to so, cause of the awesome designs.
My daughter loves these designs, and has had such problems with irritation of the skin with other brands, We appreciate that these are not as sticky! Unfortunately since she patches her left eye the unicorns are always upside down! In the next pack perhaps you could create patterns that work on both eyes?
Great selection of fun patterns for my son .
I love these sunglasses for my little boy.. he looks super cute wearing them and I have peace of mind knowing his young eyes are protected.
Our little girl loves the patterns of the eye patches! Hard to get them off her!
We love that these new designs are on a dark background to really stand out. The favs are the dinosaurs (of course) and the Aussie Animals.
These eye patches work perfectly and are comfortable to wear. We tried a cheaper brand first but they didn't even stick on. These patches are great!
Miela absolutely loves her unicorn patches.
So easy to use and no irritation 😍
Here at Speckles, we're passionate about changing the narrative on patching from being boring and clinical to FUN and EMPOWERING!!!
To help keep you and your little one sane and entertained during patch time, each week we create cooking and craft videos for kids to follow along. They can whip up a tasty batch of bliss balls to pop in their lunch box or learn how to paint a beautiful butterfly.
You can find our patch-time activities on our Instagram Reels, Youtube and Facebook .
