Welcome to our Hide & See Eye Patches Family, where we're taking the "drab" out of patching.

You see, we know that patching can be a bit of a drag, especially for kids who just want to run and play without having to deal with a pesky patch on their eye. But that's where we come in! We're on a mission to make patching as fun and painless as possible, with our eye-catching range of colorful, comfy, and effective eye patches.

We're not just a company, we're a community of curious eyes, rebels, and jokers who want to change the narrative of what it means to patch. Our founder, Maddy, is an Orthoptist with over a decade of experience in the eye world, and she's combined her passion and expertise to create a brand that kids and parents can trust.

We believe that patching should be a fun and exciting journey, not a daunting task. That's why we offer information and support along the way, as well as resources and activities that are sure to put a smile on your face.

So, are you ready to embark on a patching adventure that's a blast? Let's get stuck on this journey together!

Why do we Patch The Eye ?

Amblyopia is commonly called 'Lazy eye', BUT here at Speckles we prefer the more encouraging term 'curious eye'.

Vision loss happens because the brain favours the eye with stronger vision and basically ignores images from the eye with poor vision. Therefore the 'Curious eye' and the brain are unable to develop a strong and reliable connection via the nerve fibres that travel from the eye to the brain, known as the visual pathway, resulting in the underdevelopment of the visual pathway.

To treat Amblyopia, most doctors recommend the use of patching or eye drops. This is known as occlusion therapy, where the eye with stronger vision is penalised with the use of patches or eye drops, to give the 'curious eye' a competitive advantage and allow its nerve connections, from the eye to the brain (visual pathway), to strengthen and develop and therefore improve the eyes vision.
