At Speckles, we believe that every child's vision journey should be filled with fun, support, and quality care. Founded by an orthoptist, Speckles transforms children's eye care from a clinical experience into an engaging adventure.
Our collaboration with Disney brings beloved characters to life on our eye patches, making them a exciting part of treating amblyopia, or "Curious Eye" as we prefer to call it. Join us in our mission to provide early detection and effective treatment for children's vision health.
Why do We Patch the Eye?
Patching, also known as occlusion therapy, is a common treatment method for the vision condition, Amblyopia. You may have heard of this being called 'Lazy eye', BUT here at Speckles we prefer the more encouraging term 'curious eye'.
With Amblyopia, vision loss occurs because one eye has clearer vision than the other and the brain begins to favour it, ignoring images from the ‘curious eye’. Due to this, the visual pathway between the ‘curious eye’ and the brain is unable to develop a strong and reliable connection, leading to underdevelopment.
Doctors prescribe wearing an eye patch or using eye drops to penalise the eye with clearer vision and give the 'curious eye' a competitive advantage. This allows its nerve connections to strengthen and develop, preventing vision loss. My daughter loves these designs, and has had such problems with irritation of the skin with other brands, We appreciate that these are not as sticky! Unfortunately since she patches her left eye the unicorns are always upside down! In the next pack perhaps you could create patterns that work on both eyes?

We love that these new designs are on a dark background to really stand out. The favs are the dinosaurs (of course) and the Aussie Animals.

Great product, great company
We recently purchased the unicorn patches for our toddler daughter. Offering her the choice to select her preferred color not only made the process engaging but also ensured she was happy to wear them. She really likes them and would wear them all day if we let her. They don’t rub off, but they do peal off easy and just as easy as it is going on they peal off with no problem. Really great product, really great company. Thank you

I have a strong-willed 2 year old and I was sure she would refuse to let me patch her. I was wrong! These things are AMAZING. I let her choose which design she wants to wear and its as simple as that! She wears one per eye for a total of two hours; they must be comfortable enough since she isn't dying to rip them off and seems to forget that she's wearing one. These are CRAZY pricey, but work well. There should be discounts and incentives for repeat buyers (something better than $5 because anything less is a slap in the face when asking for customer loyalty.). Would repurchase, but they're overpriced.

I purchased the Hide&See eye patches for my daughter last year and she loved the designs offered. To make it more enjoyable for her, I have her pick out which patch design she wants to wear for that day. So glad I came across this site!
Love the patches and reward chart
This is our second time buying Speckles eye patches and we love them. My 7 year old daughter finds them so comfortable and she just loves putting her patch on the reward chart. It's excellent to track her progress and encourage her.
